When thinking of how I was going to ask my Bridesmaids to be in the wedding... as the DIYer I am, I simply had to come up with a special way to ask the girls to be a part of my big day.
In honor of our "Vintage Tuscan" themed wedding... I decided that I just had to ask them with a vintage wine!!
I chose to use bottles of Prosecco, an Italian sparkling white wine, which is also what we will be using at the wedding instead of champagne, as champagne only comes from the Champagne region of France... and we want to stick true to with the Tuscan theme.
The bottle came with a card to each girl that said, "So now there's another question that need to be POPPED."
Then the labels said "As Joe and my big day arrives, I'd be honored if you'd be by my side. Will you be my BRIDEMAID"
And lucky me... they all said YES!
Want to know how I did it? My DIY instructions here!
What you'll need:
- Full sheet labels
- Paper cutter or Scissors
- Instant Coffee
- Sponge
- Soft Fabric Measuring Tape
- Access to color copy machine
- Wine bottles of your choice!
- Step One - Create your label! Use any computer software program to design the label. Put both the front and back labels on the same sheet... each design should be no more than half of the sheet. Once completed, print label unto a regular sheet of paper.
- Step Two - Antique the label (if you do not want the vintage look - skip to the next step). Place a small amount of the instant coffee grounds into a small dish and add a few tablespoons of water. Dip the tip of sponge into the coffee mixture, then rub sponge over the entire face of label with the sponge. Repeat as necessary until desired effect is reached.
- Step 3 - Time to put the image on the label! Take your printed copy of your design and copy unto label using a copy machine. You must make sure that you use a copy machine and not your ink jet printer... this is to make sure that the ink is WATERPROOF! Otherwise, as soon as the bottle sweats or wine drips on the label, your design will be ruined! Don't let that happen... your girls are going to want to keep their bottles long after they have enjoyed the wine.
- Step 4 - Adhere the label to the bottle!
- First, take the fabric tape measure and measure the label that is currently on the bottle.
- Next, mark these dimensions on your label around your design... this is important to make sure that you cut your label large enough to cover the label already on the bottle.
- Next, use the paper cutter to trim label to the correct size (you may use scissors if you do not have a paper cutter, but be careful to make sure you cut as straight as possible).
- Finally, line the labels up and adhere! Start on one side and slowly move to the other, making sure that no bubbles or wrinkles are left.
Ta da! A perfect way to ask your Maids!
Need help on the packaging? I had different ways to package the bottle for my local gals and out-of-town gals.
Local Gals
Cute wine bag from Target with card
Out-of-Town Gals
I created a special "reply card" for them to send back with their answer! I also backed the box with pages of bridal and bridesmaids gowns from all of my Wedding Magazines. The ladies loved the extra touches!
